Horderly Texas Road Trip
Hi y’all!
If you follow us on Instagram, you probably saw that @husbandofhorderly and I just spent the week all over Texas! We love it to say the least. Our trip was framed around the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) conference which I try to attend every year to meet like-minded people in the industry and soak in all things organizing! The conference is somewhere new every year and when we found out it was in Texas this year we knew we had to go. This was our first time in Texas and we wanted to make sure we hit all of the good spots 😉 We started in the Dallas/Fort Worth region (where the conference took place). With some great recommendations from our Instagram followers (thank you!) some of our favorite places we hit in this area were Velvet Taco, Cowtown Brewing, and Righteous Food. We of course hit the Fort Worth Stockyards, (we loved the rodeo) and made sure to hit the Deep Ellum area in Dallas (the pecan pie at Emporium Pies was amazing).

One of the biggest highlights of our trip was being invited to see The Container Store HQ and distribution center, north of Dallas. It was so nice finally getting to meet (in-person), some of the people we talk to everyday! As I’m sure you all know, The Container Store is our second home and second family – and boy do they sure treat us and their customers like family! Some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. Thank you The Container Store for giving us the inside tour! (We also made a point to check out their newly designed store located in North Park – which we are obsessed!)

Next up was WACO! If you’re a fan of Fixer Upper, you already know why we went there 😉 No we didn’t get to meet Chip and Joanna (although we would have loved to) but we could have easily spent all day relaxing around their Magnolia Market and Farms. We also made a point to stop at Harp Design Co.

Huge thanks to @mitsubishimotors for making the journey around Texas a breeze! Their stunning 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander was perfect for our road trip needs!

Going horse riding at Brazos Bluffs was a major highlight! There’s nothing like getting away from the NYC speed of it all and going on a horseback trail ride in Waco, Texas – wow!

Austin, MY NEW LOVE. I could go on and on about Austin but to keep it short I must say you need to go visit for yourself! We stayed at the Austin Motel. Located in South Congress, an adorable strip to walk around, shop and eat. The city offers these scooters that you can ride around which we had a blast on and at one point ended up doing our very own “brewery tour” on them haha. About 15 minutes outside of the city is Barton Creek where we went hiking and swimming. I love when a city has beautiful spots so close like this avaliable for the public!

We ended in Houston and spent the entire first day locked in the hotel room catching up on work but our last night couldn’t have ended better. We went to Truck Yard for food, the 8th Wonder Brewery for drinks and The Rustic for music. All 3 of these places made it high on our list!
Thank you Texas for showing us that everything IS bigger – including the love we experienced on our road trip! We hope to be back soon!
