3 Ways To Organize Art Supplies

Are you drowning in your kids’ art supplies? Today we are helping you take back control of your space by offering 3 creative solutions to organizing your kids’ craft supplies.

Create An Art Cart

Art carts are a great way to create a mobile organizational system that can go wherever the creative spirit leads your kiddos! This tiered art cart allows you to separate categories by tier. For example: paper and coloring books on the bottom, materials like pipe cleaners and popsicle sticks in the middle, and utensils like pens, crayons, markers, glue, and scissors on the top.  You can further distinguish between categories using these SmartStore tall inserts. Each tier can fit 6 inserts allowing for plenty of separation between categories. You can also add on cups and hooks if you need space for additional storage. The best part is you can easily wheel this cart away to store in a closet out of sight when not in use!

Organize In A Drawer

Sometimes, all we have is a single drawer to store crafts- but that one drawer is enough to keep creativity within reach! Consider if you want your kids to have access to their art supplies or if you want this to be a supervised activity. This affects if you use a drawer down low or up high. We love using these STAK bins to contain all of the craft supplies in the drawer! These bins come with adjustable dividers to easily separate between categories within each bin ensuring that every item has a home. They also come with handles on both ends, making it easy to lift the full bin out of the drawer and bring it with you to wherever your kids craft.

If you have a shallower drawer, consider using drawer organizers to separate between categories.

TIP: Label, label, label! It is so important when setting up a new organizational system to keep your categories labeled so everyone knows how to maintain the system. We recommend labeling the internal side of the bin so you can label each category separately.

Arts & Crafts Cabinet

Lastly, if you have the luxury of utilizing a cabinet for art supplies you can really take advantage of the storage space by using bins to create a “drawer effect” on the shelves. This will keep your items contained within categories, while simultaneously making it easy to access. Stacked storage boxes can also maximize the vertical storage space for items that you are using less often.
