NAPO Conference
I could write go on forever about all the wonderful information I learned this year at the NAPO (National Association of Professional Organizers) 2017 Conference but I am only going to highlight a few points from a few classes and tell you who I met this year and a few of my favorites that I got to see again from last year!
NAPO 2017 started off on the right foot with Jones Loflin and his speech labeled “Grow, Cultivate, Prune and Harvest: How to Blossom Even in Times of Change”. His energy rubbed off immediately and I’m looking forward to jumping into a few of his books!
Next I saw Sue Pine (not pictured) in her class “Leadership 101”. Sue stood out to me last year at my first NAPO conference so I wanted to get a chance to see her present and boy is she ever a LEADER. We broke down the many traits of leadership, the differences between management vs leadership, and traditional leaders vs collaborative leaders.
I caught the tail end of “Ask the Organizer Panel” where I got to see Kathy Vines of Clever Girl Organizing be 1 of the 4 organizers on stage. Kathy was my “buddy” last year at my first NAPO conference and I am so honored to have met her and be by her side. She is on to doing some big things along with writing her own book which I am ecstatic to read, coming this summer! Find her in the New England Chapter!
Day 2 I got to see Paula Rizzo and Terri Trespicio. I was super excited to see Paula as I knew of her from the book “Listful Thinking” (which I made sure to read before conference). They. were. great. We learned the in and outs of media and how to give a killer pitch!
My favorite Florida organizer! MIAMI, if you’re in need of an organizer Neat with Knight is your girl! @neat_with_knight
My Exclusive Concierge who luckily is close by as she is part of the Connecticut Chapter! @myexclusiveconcierge
A dream come true. Yes, we organizers have our idol organizers (heart face). @priscilasaboiaorganizer has always been on my radar. In fact, most of the Brazil organizers are! Let me tell you, the Brazil team has some TALENT and inspire me more and more everyday. Not only was I lucky enough to finally meet Priscila but I got to meet a new face as well, @ki_organiza (she’s adorable!).
Ahh, Stasia Steele! Owner and Professional Organizer of The Little Details, Boston Chapter. She is by far BOSS BABE. I gave Stasia my “star” this year (as you probably saw on my Instagram Stories) and definitely took home the most from her this year, thank you!!!
Dorothy the Organizer, I think I may have teared up in your class labeled “The Organizing Business: Scandal, Sabotage, Sanity, Success”. There’s not one person who couldn’t learn from your story!
If you guys didn’t already know, I am a big Tim Ferris fan. I signed up for podcaster Zachary Sexton’s class because something about him reminded me of Tim. His whole demeanor sold me. We talked about when to be in “boss mode” vs when to be in “worker mode” and focused on the difference of busy vs productive.
The NAPO-NY Chapter!
I have only been to Pittsburgh once, a few years ago, and it was just passing through. I’m so glad I got the opportunity to go back and see more. A few of my favorite places I ate at were Eleven (their roasted chicken entree salad for lunch is amaaazing), Meat and Potatoes (great service), and Emporio at Sienna Mercato (best vegetarian meatball ever). My husband and I even popped into Wigle Whiskey Distillery for a tasting and caught a Pittsburgh Pirates vs Chicago Cubs baseball game!
Happy Conferencing!
XOXO
