It feels like forever ago that kids had a “normal” school routine – but as many schools open up with pre-pandemic schedules and activities this fall, it’s time to get your home and car organized to tackle your child’s busy after school schedule.

Create a Sanitation Station

As kids resume normal activities, they’re going to be in a lot of different places with a lot of different people! Create a sanitation station in your home to make health and safety a priority at home, too!

You can use a drawer in your kitchen, a basket in your mudroom or an area in your bathroom for kids to grab masks, sanitizers, gloves and anything else they may need to scrub the day off!

Create A Homework Station

After school, set a schedule for your children to tackle their homework! Creating a routine outside of the classroom will help your children stay productive and set goals for themselves!

At home, whether it’s a designated space in your home, the dining room table, or a desk in their rooms, set up a space where kids know they should go to complete their homework before the day is done.

Use bins and baskets, and/or lazy susans to store supplies like paper, notepads, writing utensils and other supplies they may need to complete their tasks.

You can even create a rolling cart and keep it in a communal closet when not in use! We love this clear rolling cart; kids can easily see what’s inside and grab what they need without tearing through a drawer or making a mess!

Organize Your Car

Make sure your car is organized to handle everything and anything from a trip to the grocery store to dirty soccer gear!

This foldable trunk organizer is perfect for containing and storing bulkier items in your trunk. If you have multiple children who participate in multiple after-school activities, consider getting a storage box for each kid to put in your trunk. That way the car is packed and ready to go no matter which kid is riding shotgun!

These are also great for storing reusable grocery bags, since many grocery stores are getting rid of plastic bags!
