3 Steps to Organize Under Your Bathroom Sink
With limited space and a multitude of products, organizing under the bathroom sink can be tricky. Remember – there’s always a solution for your organizing needs, and every home and family is different – it’s okay to choose a solution that works best for you!
Here are some tips and tricks to maximizing your space and making your daily routines so much easier!
Step 1: Declutter
Pull all items out from under your bathroom sink.
Place all items into piles, separated by category. For example, put dental supplies like toothbrushes, toothpaste and dental floss in one pile, and put beauty supplies like makeup in another pile.
Once all items are sorted into piles by category, work pile-by-pile to determine what to keep, toss or donate. Don’t forget to check for expired products! If a product is expired, consider throwing it away. If you need a replacement, add it to a list for your next shopping trip.
The goal of organizing your space is so that nothing gets lost, or expires. Make sure to place items strategically so you can see what you have and be mindful about what you’re bringing into your home after trips to the store.
Step 2: Strategize Zones & Products
Before you put your piles away, take measurements of your under-sink space to determine which products can fit to help you maximize your space. Measuring under the sink can be tricky because of plumbing – make sure to measure the left and right sides of the plumbing fixtures, and the middle space to figure out what storage solutions can fit in each area.
Here are a few of our favorite under-sink products:
Stackable Storage Bins – Use stackable storage bins to create an open containment system under your sink. The open containment approach is by far the easiest in regard to a layout and functionality that is truly grab-and-go (pictured above).
Stackable Drawers – Using clear, stackable drawers to maximize height under the sink, and use clear labels so you’ll know exactly where all of your categories live.
Lazy Susans – Using an open container that spins will allow you to easily see, spin, and reach for any items under your sink vs. digging through bottles to reach something farther back. This solution is great for larger items like shampoos and conditioners, taller lotion bottles, or bathroom cleaning supplies that may be too big to fit in stackable drawers.
Clear Shoe Boxes – Clear shoe boxes come in a variety of sizes, allowing you to choose the size that perfectly fits your space. You can store anything in these easy-to-clean boxes like feminine care, nail polish or makeup, and more.
Adhesive Organizer Bins – These bins are great because they stick to the back of cabinet doors, allowing you to create additional storage from a blank slate!
Step 3: Organize by Category
Organizing items by category and using products to separate and contain the different items will make daily routines so much easier, and help you stay neat and tidy.
Categories can include makeup, hair products, and accessories, skin care products, dental products (like extra toothbrushes and toothpaste), grooming products (like shaving cream and razors), as well as first-aid and medicine.
