Spring Closet Reset Guide

Spring is the perfect time to reset your closet for the warmer months. Use this influx of fresh energy to clear out what no longer serves you and set up your space for success!
Seasonal Swap!

And with spring comes the perfect time to rotate your pieces to avoid overstuffed hangers and hard-to-close drawers. Good news: you don’t need a second closet to do a full season swap. Swap jackets and cardigans to the back of your closet and bring seasonal dresses and lighter layers forward. Trade in your winter accessory basket for bathing suits instead, placing winter items on the highest shelf. If you need additional space for storing off-season items, use underbed bins or weathertight storage totes to tuck pieces away until next fall.
Edit Your Wardrobe

As you swap your clothing, use this time to also give your closet a quick edit. Donate anything that went unworn all season, any items that are uncomfortable, and pieces that no longer align with your style. As you bring spring and summer items forward, go through to make sure they also still fit comfortably and capture your aesthetic. Be realistic with yourself so you don’t keep clutter around “just in case.” You deserve a closet that holds clothing that makes you feel your best!

Cleanse Your Closet

After going through an edit and before putting your clothing back into your closet, give the space a thorough cleaning to remove any dust buildup from the winter. Wipe from top to bottom, starting with the upper shelves and moving down to the floor. Don’t forget to vacuum last to get rid of any dust bunnies lurking in the corners.
Streamline Your Systems

Any systems that weren’t working for you this winter need to go! Bring your most used categories into “prime real estate” zones which are any locations that are easily accessible to you like middle shelves and hanging. Lesser used categories can be tucked down low, up high, or in the lesser accessible zones. We recommend streamlining your hangers so you can maximize space and reduce visual clutter. Bins are great for containing categories on shelves like bathing suits and shorts, while shelf dividers do wonders for maintaining neat stacks of folded clothing like jeans and light sweaters for those cool spring evenings.
