As we usher in the New year, it’s a great time to rethink the habits that shape our days. Inspired by our founder Jamie’s schedule, we’re breaking routines into small, manageable chunks you can spread throughout the day. This way, chores don’t pile up to steal your entire Sunday, and you can focus on the things that really matter.

Morning Routine

Start your day with intention by using the freshness of the morning to set yourself up for success. Adding just a few simple steps to your morning routine can help you feel grounded, focused, and ready to make the most of the day ahead:

  • Make the bed
  • Unload dishes during breakfast
  • Put away clean laundry

Post-Dinner Routine

After a long day, chores can feel overwhelming. But by gently structuring your routine and flexing that muscle regularly, taking care of chores becomes second nature instead of a source of stress. Use that renewed energy from a good meal to carry you through a few easy wins:

  • Wipe down surfaces after dinner
  • Reset common areas
  • Vacuum (We know this may seem daunting, but a quick daily vacuum will save you loads of time throughout the week and keep your home feeling fresh 24/7!)

Evening Routine

After putting the kids to bed, Jamie recommends taking a short window before fully relaxing to wrap up a couple remaining tasks. This small reset helps close out the day feeling accomplished, making it easier to truly unwind:

  • Put in a load of laundry (With two kids it really is easier to just do this daily!)
  • Start dishwasher

Before Bed Routine

With the house in order, it becomes easier to fully relax and enjoy quality time with a partner, friend, or even a pet. Just before bed, take a few final steps to set yourself up for a calmer, more successful tomorrow:

  • Open dishwasher when done so dishes can air dry
  • Flip laundry to dryer
  • On school nights: Jamie lays out Palmer’s school outfit and backpack for an easy morning routine for him (By modeling this while your kids are young, you can teach them how to maximize their time and set themselves up for a successful day!)

Sundays Routine

Sundays are often reserved for catching up on a long list of chores, but when you’ve tackled small chunks throughout the week, there’s far less left to do! Instead of spending the whole day cleaning, Sunday becomes a breeze and a chance to actually rest and recharge:

  • Get groceries
  • Restock Palmer’s school outfits downstairs for the week
  • Spend quality time with loved ones

An organized routine becomes habit fast when you take the time up front to implement the new system. Adjust the systems to fit your lifestyle as needed and experience the mental clarity that will come from freeing your mind!
