5 Areas to Organize in 20 Minutes for Less Than $50

On a budget and strapped for time? We’ve got you covered. Below we share five areas you can tackle in under 20 minutes for $50 or less!

Junk Drawer

Organizing your junk drawer may seem like a daunting task, but really it takes just a few minutes to sort through! Often we find that junk drawers are riddled with trash; so working through it may feel overwhelming at first, but once you start, organizing a junk drawer is a quick process. We tackle this space like any other: sort items into categories, toss trash, strategize placement using acrylic drawer dividers (starting at just $2.99/ea), label and you’re done! Set a timer for 20 minutes and see how quickly you can sort through your junk drawer!

TIP: Once you’ve transformed your junk drawer, consider calling it your “valet drawer” instead to encourage organized habits, meaning everything you put in this drawer is purposeful and useful.

Hanging Clothes

Tackling your entire closet can feel like a big task, but starting with editing through your hanging bar will give you the dopamine you need to tackle the rest of the space! Just grab all your hanging items and sort them into piles on your bed, organizing by category as you go: shirts, dresses, skirts, pants, etc. Then, with a donate bag in hand, go one by one and decide whether to keep or donate! You may be asking yourself, “why not just flip through my hangers on the rack?”. Great question! When you keep your clothing on the rack, you are entering this organizing session with the same perspective you have everyday when you open your closet. By pulling your items out, sorting them into categories, and going through one by one, you will be able to actually see how much of each category you have, offering you a more impactful editing session. And as a bonus, once you’ve finished going through your items, you can just tuck them back on the hanging rod in their pre-sorted categories! Get yourself some sturdy hangers ($25 for a pack of 25!) and you’re all set!

TIP: Take this space to the next level by adding rod dividers (just $2/ea!) to create easy visual separation between categories. Sort items on your hanging rod by category, then by length (sleevelength, dress length, pant length etc.), then by color.

Sweaters

Sweaters are another quick category to organize- we bet you can tackle this in even less than 20 minutes! After pulling out all your sweaters and deciding which to donate, fold them neatly into stacks and place them on a shelf in your closet. Use acrylic shelf dividers (just $17/ea!) to create division between stacks and ensure that they don’t topple over.

Teas

Cardboard tea boxes can be such an eye sore, and most importantly, can crowd your cupboard making it challenging to find the tea you’re looking for. For a quick and easy organizational hack, try recycling those tea boxes and instead placing your tea bags into a lidded tea bin ($26.99/ea). The bins come with individual compartments sized perfectly for a box of tea bags. This is bound to take you 10 minutes tops to transform your tea cabinet into a beautifully organized masterpiece!

TIP: Have tons of tea? No problem! The lidded tea bins stack easily. Try placing decaf in one bin stacked with your caffeinated teas in the other bin!

Jewelry

Is your jewelry free-floating in a drawer, just waiting to get tangled and broken? Try placing this stunning expandable jewelry tray ($49.99/ea) in your drawer and fret about broken jewelry no more! Use the individual compartments to separate categories like rings, necklaces, bracelets, and more. This organizing task is a quick and easy way to take your jewelry drawer from drab to fab!
