I don’t know about you but I am one who pushes much harder in the gym when I have someone there with me. If I’m alone, I find myself doing more walking around and wasting time. In the end this just frustrates me. Now, this may just be my husband or a friend being there that gives me this little push but there’s nothing like a personal trainer to hold you accountable. Marcelo Cattini came to me through social media and let me tell you…he has been a god send. When I first moved to New York I looked into personal trainers and I found that their hourly prices were just way too much, but I guess I didn’t look hard enough! I find that the best people come into your life without force and that’s exactly how @trainercattini stepped in.
Marcelo offers travel to Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and Long Island and it was when my husband and I moved to Long Island that we thought we would give him a try. Not only was it the travel convenience, hourly rate and the great deal he gave for the 2 of us, but his cool, friendly, and professional demeanor had sold us day 1 (before we even got started).

We jumped right into it and I am learning more and more about different muscles and ways to improve my body. Marcelo is a big believer in using your bodyweight over actual weights (which I LOVE). I’m always afraid I am going to “bulk up” too much so I never know how to use weights properly. By doing workouts that only entail using your bodyweight you achieve natural strength, flexibility, and overall health. Bodyweight workouts are also available anywhere anytime so there’s no excuse not to workout 😉 Marcello can train you anywhere. Whether it’s in your gym, outside or in your apartment, he’s got you covered.

My husband has a bad back and I have really weak wrists so Marcelo has created our workouts around our injuries and provides us with tips and ways to strengthen these areas. We also snowboard so not only does he focus on the muscles catered to this sport but he teaches our bodies to be “smart”. This may sound silly but I am mind blown by some of the workouts he brings up. Let’s just say I am never bored during our sessions together. Switching up your workouts and keeping them interesting is a must.
Working out comes easy to me when I have a goal or deadline, for example, my wedding or a beach vacation. However, as soon as I don’t…the motivation seems to disappear. Sound familiar? Marcelo is someone that I can’t help but to smile when I see him and he has become our friend along the way, which I find is most important. We now see him once a week and I would see him everyday if I could! What’s better than finding someone who makes your life a little more exciting 🙂
How I fit exercise into my schedule
I try to carve out at least an hour a day for working out. 30-45 mins of that is cardio, finished with some sort of weight lifting. If setting aside this amount of time doesn’t work for you, try scheduling 30 mins of cardio 3 times a week and 30 mins of weight lifting 3 times a week (I also always try to walk everywhere instead of taking the train or cab and take steps instead of elevators or escalators). Remember, your response to any situation either moves you happily forward or holds you frustratingly back. I think it’s time to move forward!
